If there is a single whisky that is acknowledged right across Asia pacific as a premium scotch whisky therefore it really needs to be the Chivas whisky. This premium whisky is manufactured by the Chivas borthers which thus is owned and operated by Pernod Ricard. Chivas whisky presently is the economy leader in whiskies for 12 years or longer. Actually the sales have been significantly developing right from the year 2002 to 2011.
Chivas Regal Scotch whisky was first developed in the year 1801 in Aberdeen, Scotland at the Strathisla Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland.
There are mostly three main whiskies from this family and they are Chivas Regal 12 year old, Chivas Regal 18 year old and Chivas Regal 25 year old. The 12 year old blended whisky has whiskybourbon a taste that reminds you about honey and ripe apples even while on the palate it comes across as being round and creamy. There are even hints of hazelnut and butterscotch in the taste. The 18 year old mixed with whisky is aged for at least 18 years before it is bottled and tastes of orange and chocolates. On the nose it feels citrus, spices and fruits. When on the palate you get spicy taste. Chivas Regal 25 year old is aged for 25 years or even more and tastes of apricot and peach.
There is long history behind this famous drink. It was launched by the Chivas brothers in the year 1801. They started a retail store that offered spices, Caribbean rum, coffee, and some other food stuff to potential customers. In the year 1842 after the visit of Queen Victoria to Scotland they were required to produce groceries to the royal family at Balmoral Castle. And in the year 1843 they were awarded the desirable royal warrant to present commodities to the Queen.
As their status increased, shoppers often prosperous and affluent, would request them to produce smooth whisky. Therefore, in the year 1850 James Chivas began to combine whiskies to create smooth whisky that would suit his affluent customers taste. He created a proprietary brand Chivas Brothers and produced the first mixed with scotch whisky “Royal Glen Dee. This was basically immediately accompanied by yet another whisky the “Royal Strathythan”.
By the early 1900s the economy in the U.S had been flourishing and to capture this market the Chivas brothers made a decision to develop an aged whisky and it was first given the name Chivas Regal. In the year 1909 Chivas Regal 25 year old was presented and premium brand and shortly captured the imagination of the Americans. They persisted to appreciate awesome success till prohibition put a spoke in the wheel in 1920.
Seagrams decided to buy the Chivas Regal brand in the year 1949 and applied their huge marketing and sales network to further present this top quality whisky. As soon as the prohibition was basically lifted and the Second World War was over Chivas released their 12 year old. By now Chivas Regal had turn out to be really popular and had a large loyal customer base. Among its highly prominent customers had been the well-known Frank Sinatra.
The time the 20th century ended they already had 18 year old and 25 year old added to their list. Due to the split up of the Seagrams Group, Chivas was first purchased by Pernod Ricard in the year 2000 and it continues to be with them to this day.
Chivas whisky has always performed perfectly and has got received quite a few awards and medals at spirits competitions. On the San Francisco World spirit contest it garnered the gold medal in the year 2006 and 2008.
